'Now I have a nose like other people'

TesfaAlman (left) from the mountainous region of North Wollo, was born with a cleft lip and at the age of 5 years old, incurred a lesion which progressively eroded a substantial part of his nose. Like many of our patients, he was very troubled by his appearance.
During last month’s medical mission, his nose was rebuilt by our surgeons. He recovered well and was discharged earlier this month.
It was clear to see on Tesfa’s face how delighted he was with his new nose, but it is not often that our patients are able to communicate their thanks in such a profound way as a hand-written letter (left), found on his bedside after discharge.
