Complex Surgical Mission 2020
We are excited to give an update on the mission so far and to Thank our amazing pre-op team for the hard work they put in prior to the surgical weeks.
A short summary of pre-op:
Our pre-op phase was held over a two week period, our pre-op medical volunteer team worked in collaberation with Ethiopian doctors and nurses to run a serious of medical assessments for our patients in preparation for surgery. A huge part of the pre-op phase was ensuring our patients were in both the best mental and physical position for their surgeries. Our dietitian Alice worked hard on a specialist nutrition programme designed specifically for our patients, involving lots of local fresh fruits! The team also worked hard on personal hygiene such as dental care. We were also able to donate a new washing machine to the pre-op centre for the patients!
The pre-op phase concluded with the MDM presentation to the full surgical team - see the photo above!
