The Great Ethiopian Run 2022
In November 2022, a team represented Project Harar in The Great Ethiopian, raising money to provide access to cleft lip and palate surgeries in Ethiopia.
The Great Ethiopian Run is an annual 10-kilometre running event, which primarily takes place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. However, the event can also be run internationally, enabling our team to take part in the UK. Each runner, regardless of where they are in the world, partakes by running the 10k and recording their results. We are very grateful to get to take part in such great events and are very proud of the 5 runners who raised money for us.
If you are interested in running in next years Great Ethiopian Run, it takes place at the end of November. Runners are also given the opportunity to complete 10km wherever they are in the world either in-person or virtually. All runners will receive an official race medal and T-shirt to wear on the day.
How to sign up
Please email smile@projectharar.org to secure your place for Project Harar.
We are offering free places in the run, but we would really like participants to aim to fundraise at least £50 which will also cover the entry cost for the event.
We can send you your T-shirt before the event if you would like to run in it and you will receive your medal upon completion.
We really want to encourage all runners to fundraise as part of this event, so please do create a fundraising page on JustGiving (https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/greatethiopianrun) and share it with friends and family so we can accurately track our fundraising!
Why run for Project Harar?
Project Harar is a small but ambitious international charity providing health outreach services in Ethiopia. We work in some of the most disadvantaged and hard to reach communities to provide access to treatment for infants, children and young people born with cleft lip and palate and more complex facial disfigurements.
